Whenever we encounter someone, Maitreya says, we are presented a choice to either love them or judge them. Judgment is not love, and if we love then we do not judge. He explains that even if it is not the first time meeting someone we can try to remember the moment we did, and try to relive that feeling of being open to who they might be.
